I stayed up a bit last night waiting for my hair to dry so I decided to make some tutorials in hopes of helping the DA ppl out there learn how to draw eyes or improve eyes. And yes, I don't mind if u use my style of eyes...heck my style of eyes was stolen from another artist long ago...and then radioactively transmutated into strange yet surprisingly interesting style of eyes.
Extra Pointers:
1.) Eyes can be either round or like yu-gi-oh (very pointy and large). I notice a lotta beginners (correction: aspiring artists) draw the outline of the eye very pointy...you could do that but it'd look more natural and inviting if it was round and curvacious.
2.) Eyelashes can be hard to do...remember, they look like a quarter circle fanning outward from the inside of the eye. Don't make them too large or they'll look like fake ones glued on. And also they add a bit of femmininity to your female character.
3.) Eye detail..the hardest part! You want to make a white circle in the upper right or left corner...followed by the pupil underneath...remember the more black there is in the eyes, the more depth it adds...Also for iris', there are 50 billion ways to detail iris'. the most common is just shading it all the same...or u can do a gradient (darker to lighter shading)...or you can add the lil' squiggly lines in the iris (like in real life).
4.) The ratio between the white part of the eye and the colored part. If the colored part is wayyyy to big...then that's just silly, cuz it makes your characters eyes look puffy. And eyes too small make them look beady. If they fit comfortably within the eye outline itself...then you got yerself a good lookin' eye.
5.) Have fun! If you love drawing eyes, you'll be more comfortable doing it, it'll become natural...and thus you'll improve your eye drawing skillz.
PS. Please do tell me if you find this useful at all...I'd like any kinda feed back, even if u say "OMG you're eyes are eyesores! Go back to drawing skooL, you suck ass! Even my dog can draw eyes better than u!"

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
