Tutorial for heads. To many of you, this may seem elementary, but I think it may help some of you out there. Especially for all of you who would like to learn how to draw heads...properly. I left some extra notes if you wanna read it
Proportion:
1.) The head is split into 2 pieces...top half, lower half. The top half includes the hair line, bangs, etc. The lower half...the more important half is the face: eyes, nose mouth, ears.
2.) Nose placement is halfway from the top of the eyes to the bottom of the face.
3.) Mouth placement is negotiable...if u place the mouth too high, the character looks like Jay Leno (super huge chin)...if you make it too low, the character looks slack-jawed. But if you put it a lil' bit higher from where it would normally go, you can make the character look more giddy and enthusiastic. If you put it a lil' lower than normal, you can make the character look a bit sadder, depressed.
If the head is proportionate, it will make your characters looking more natural...even if it is still anime style. Happy drawing

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
